Brookline by Design seeks zoning reform according to a comprehensive and inclusive community-based planning process modeled after the very successful Somerville by Design initiative that other municipalities are following. Please support our endorsed candidates at the polls on May 3.
Our proposed planning process (Warrant Article 26) near unanimously passed at Town Meeting on December 1, 2021. Your support for Brookline by Design candidates is essential to ensuring that Town Meeting votes to fund the approved process in May of 2022.
There is a deep diversity in racial identity, cultural perspective, and housing experiences on the BBD candidate committee, and the 205 candidates that BBD has endorsed represent a very broad range of racial, economic, cultural, and housing situations. Brookline by Design actively seeks thoughtful representation from all perspectives to fulfill our mission of a genuinely broad-based community planning process.
We gathered examples of what our candidates think about Planning in Brookline here.
Brookline votes on May 3rd from 7AM to 8PM. You can determine your new precinct here. Polling locations are listed here and the precinct specific endorsement here.
Be prepared in advance for an unusual ballot, because you will be able to vote for 15, 3x the usual number of candidates, and arguably more names than we can hold in our heads without having a cheat sheet (which are permitted).
In-person absentee voting is now available at Town Hall, 8:00am-5:00pm this week, and Saturday, April 30 10:00am-1:00pm.
If you would like a yard sign, we have some left. Please request a sign here.
Brookline by Design has actively worked to support endorsed candidates. Because we chose a legal form that provides transparency to the public and also campaign finance limits, State law prevents large donors from funding our organization. We are proud to be funded entirely by a large number of individual community members making small dollar donations. Please consider helping to defray the cost of mailings and printings by making a donation.
Even if you have never voted in a Town election before, please let your voice be heard at the polls on May 3.
