Cambridge’s New Housing Plan is “Deeply Flawed”



The Cambridge City Council recently voted to eliminate single-family zoning and upzone all residential neighborhoods in the city, allowing four-story buildings by right -- without design review or legal appeal by neighbors. Radically deregulating zoning without adequate planning or affordability requirements is a giveaway to developers, the authors argue, and a fast track to tree-loss, heat islands, traffic congestion, historic-home demolition, and further gentrification.
