In this recent article, "The Case Against YIMBYism" from the New Republic, Micheal Friedrich spells out how relying on the private market to fix problems the private market created is unlikely to be successful. The deregulation agenda that YIMBY's champion have their origins in Libertarian and right-wing political thought and often lead to higher rents, displacement and gentrification.
